By Car To St Pancras

I am wondering is there any less congested way to St Pancras, I will be travelling there quite often as part of my job in transfers from Ringwood, I missed a deadline Saturday and I don't wish to lose my job.
I usually come up by M3/M25/M4/A4 then Warwick Rd A3220 onto Westway then Euston Rd, this was mayhem yesterday.

I wouldn't mind using smaller roads or a different route in even if it takes 15 mins longer, the average journey time is 2 hours but that's clear roads.

I know this could be the impossible question, I do have a sat nav so can pre set a route if anyone has any suggestions.

Personally, there is no way I would drive across London nowadays. I usually park at Stanmore tube station and use the tube (but I'm coming down the M1, so no use to you). Most of the SW London tubes are closer in, so could you not get a train? Southampton is only about 1 1/2 hrs to Waterloo, or perhaps you could come nearer to London...Basingstoke,Woking? I definately wouldn't drive! (BTW, I've been a professional driver for over 20 years).

there'a any number of ways you could thread your way through west London, but they're all going to be as bad as each other at the time i suspect you'll be travelling - and you'll still end up on park lane or euston road unless you're prepared to pay the congestion charge.

all i could suggest is leave earlier and accept the journey for what it can sometimes be, or find an alternative means to complete your journey from the suburbs.

I'd do what sdd suggests - either take the train all the way, or park and ride on the outskirts of London

Where on earth do you find somewhere to park near St Pancras? I know the area pretty well and I wouldn't dream of driving there.

I'd be inclined to drive up to somewhere like Twickenham or Feltham and use the train from there. They're every few minutes and you can get a Travel Card for the whole journey for £8.90 next Saturday.

Thanks for your suggestions, I should have been a bit clearer but I have to drive in as I am taking passengers to and from the station (private transfers) oh how I would be taking the tube if t was just me .. I have no choice but to find some roads that are less busy until I hit the last stretch, just wondering if its best to come in from further south or skirt round and enter from north west..

as a Londoner i would reiterate what has been said, it's virtually impossible not to get caught up in traffic here, it starts piling in very early, the speed restrictions in some areas is 20mph, would suggest that is on the high side.

where exactly are you driving in from... and there is little chance of parking around St Pancras, dropping off people, but that is it.

just going off subject slightly - i assume the transfers are to and from eurostars? in which case, i might have expected the company arranging long distance road transfers to have met the trains at Ebbsfleet.....

OK, that being the case aati, I'd carry on round the M25 to the M40 junction and come straight into London on that. You WILL meet traffic, it's London, after all, but depending what time, it shouldn't be too bad. 9 am on a weekday would not be a good idea. Saturday morning should be fine.

I dont know how you guys cope with this commuting malarkey, If I need to go to town 12 miles away at rush hour, I can still do it in 15 to 20 minutes, I cant imagine being in rush hour traffic and taking hours to travel to work, I just couldn't do it, I take my hat off to you. Personally I would just move away from London for a quieter life. Life is too short.
