How do you get the uk from abroad? is it always 00 44 then drop the 0 from the number?

Also remember that they only pay up to Dover (i.e., to the edge of England, I somehow always think of that as Dover even though it's not!) - you pay the rest of the way. So receiving calls and texts can cost you a LOT of money.
When I moved to Hamburg this time last year, my phone didn't do that for me. I'm not saying anyone's wrong, just that things are obviously different with each model/network.
Your friends always have to add a 44 to get you when you're abroad though. If they have you as an 07 and you leave the country, they'll need to change it.
when putting numbers in your phone i alway use the full international codes +44 the "+" is usually next to the "0". this will tell the phone that u r making an international call when u r abroard and will automatically use the international code.. some countries do not use 00 they might use 010 for their international call, so u will need to chk that out if u do not use the "+" button.
this is the same for text msg,, u should be able to recieve and send them if phone is enabled to send and rcvd txt msgs.
