I have a contrcat with my mobile phone,I am going abroad in a few weeks can I use it the same as I would over here?

you will need to use a prefix code like 0044 and drop the 0 of the start of the mobile number.if your dialing a mobile.
Be aware of the cost tho, and check with your phone company that you can. I went abroad once and just assumed I could use it, only to find I couldn't. I'd give them a call anyway.
you will need a tri-band phone or any other that can be used abroad.Postdog is right the bills can be very expensive.
you don't need tri-band in europe (need it for USA, Canada) but you do need your service provider to enable GSM calls if you don't already have this.
