I will be flying from Manchester to Tenerife on Friday 27 Oct, going with First Choice, coming home with Jet2. What can I put in my hand bag? I know scissors/tweezers and the obvious are not allowed but can i take any make up at all?

You can take solid make ups like lipsticks in hand luggage... but no liquids or liquid-based products such as toothpaste, shampoo, shaving gel etc.
Seems to be a bit of conflicting information at the moment. The Department of Transport still have http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_abou t/documents/page/dft_about_612280.hcsp

But from the 6th November, the EU are introducing new regulations regarding what is allowed in hand luggage. It's mentioned on http://www.klm.com/travel/ch_en/about/news_pre ss/travel_news/floatingnews/news7.htm and http://www.bmibaby.com/bmibaby/en/index.aspx?p =24 and on a few other websites.
