Can one travel with human ashes on aeroplanes?
I will be travelling abroad to scatter my mum's ashes at what was a favourite place of hers during her lifetime. Does anyone know whether airlines allow this in hand baggage or should the container with the ashes be placed in hold baggage?
Thank you.
Thank you.

If you have a suitcase in the hold and I was you, I would personally put the ashes in your suitcase. You could take them in your hand baggage but it could be quite distressing if you are challenged on this. I have worked on many aircraft where we have human remains in the hold.
Each airline will have its own rules.
