We booked to see Roger Daltry at an open air concert at Ripley Castle on 17 July and were really looking forward to it. We have just heard that the concert has been cancelled. When I rang up for a refund I asked why it had been cancelled and they said that they had been told it was due to poor ticket sales but they weren't convinced.
Does anyone know why it was cancelled - I saw in the paper that he had just done an impromptu concert on he QE2 - NO sales for that concert
Can't answer this specifically, but when a postie I delivered to someone who knows him quite well and we had many discussions about him over the years. She told me that Roger was showing his age now and often had to be prompted with lines of songs etc.She said he wasn't senile, but had his moments. Anyway that was a few years ago so maybe he has worsened since then, and maybe that's why
hi rattyratgirl- deaf as a post? Deaf, dumb and blind, I heard, ...but sure plays a mean pinball.
Being serious, it can be quite sad seeing once great performers whose health is now clearly afecting their performance. I doubt he needs the money.
On checking on his age (nearly 70) I noticed that tickets are still being sold for the rest of the tour, so maybe what I said doesn't appy. I was just going on what she said and she'd known him for years having been involved in the background of a lot he (and the Who) have done.
As others havee pointed out, I believe his age is catching up on him. He looked a little bewildered when presenting an award at the recent Brits if memory serves me correctly.
