alaska
As part of our holiday thia year we are cruising the alaskan inside passage.
Has anybody done this ? If so which organised trips are worth while booking ?
As this is not the sort of holiday you can afford to do more than once I am keen to do and see as much as possible but obviously do not want to waste money.
We are on a very early season trip - 8 - 15 May.
Thanks in advance

Just read through descriptions and check prices, but be wary. The wife and I fancied going on a float plane to a 'hidden' lake, but the price was about 200 each! and although the excursion lasted about 4 hours, the small print said the flight time was about 30 minutes, so we decided it wasn't worth it. Try and keep an open mind as well. On our last cruise we decided going to a coffee plantation in Costa Rica was 'doing something' but might not be that brilliant and it turned out to be one of the best excursions of our holiday.
For me, just walking round Skagway - where there are lots of historical attractions - was the most interesting excursion, and it was free. So was watching glaciers calving; all I had to do was stand on deck (or in my cabin if that was too chilly).
Bear in mind that float-plane trips etc may be cancelled in bad weather - May is quite early in the season. Land-based excursions are more likely to go ahead. (But then again the weather may be perfect, who knows.) Take a raincoat if you want to see Ketchikan.
