As for signs, they use icons and imagery rather than words, so no need to read. There are a lot of HGV drivers from the continent driving on UK roads who cannot read English.

I don't know if they have introduced it yet but when I was doing lessons about a year and a half ago they were talking about changing the test slightly. During the test, after you have done all of your maneuvers (sp?) the examiner will ask you to follow the signs back to the test centre. They stop giving you directions.
