Working in Dubai
4 Answers
Does anyone know of any British companies which hire people to work in Dubai? Would like to work there for 6-12 months. I know some companies sent people out, full board, they arrange the visa etc but my surfing abilities are coming up with just the usual yahoo and google searches. Anyone know of any specific companies, like BP or HSBC etc?

Due to the tax free status of working there, any vacancies within a company are in very high demand, and are therefore usually filled internally. It's only when there are specialist skills required (skills that are in high demand and therefore hard to fill positions) that the company would advertise outside or via an agency.
These jobs are normally on a contract basis. You should register with a number of agencies for the best chance of getting a position. But there will be a lot of high calibre competition for every vacancy.

I would have to agree with Calibrax. I work in Saudi and the majority of expates here are from Asian countries. However, don't let this stop you. Could I suggest sending a copy of your CV and a covering letter to the embassy. I always work on the theory of if you don't ask you don't get. Best of luck.
