If it's the only bag you are taking on board then yes. If you are taking other hold baggage then no.

That is a no then, thank you
Can't answer for easy Jet, but on RyanAir they won't let you unless it counts as your one cabin luggage bag. That didn't stop lots of women in front of me draping a cardigan round their shoulders hiding a handbag strapped across their chest (satchel style) I couldn't believe they got away with it - they looked like the Hunchback of Notre Dame! I daren't try it, I would get caught - I was lost without my handbag!
Sorry, I fast forwarded to EasyJet. It is a strict one bag rule.

Many thanks, and drat x
You can put your shoulder bag in your hold baggage until you get past the crew who take your ticket before boarding.
Mrs Shoota puts her handbag in her small suitcase........
I always put my handbag inside my carryon luggage. Once on board you can take your handbag out of the case/bag.
That's what I do - I take a handbag which will fit inside my hand luggage while I go through security. I'm surprised about the cardigan story - we've had to take off jackets and cardigans recently and put them through the scanner.
Out of interest what do you ladies take in this cabin bag that's separate from a handbag? I only take a large handbag. I don't know what else I'd want to take on board.

In my cabin bag I usually have

magazine/paper
drink (bought airside)
sandwich (ditto)
spare underwear
spare specs
medication
shoes

it's not so much what I need on board, it's what I can't do without when I get there, if my suitcase goes missing.
Agree with the others, I pack my handbag inside my travel backpack to go through, then I have room in my backpack for stuff i might want to buy in duty free.
Never travelled on Sleazy Jet but whenever I fly I usually take my laptop as hand luggage and a bum bag around my waist (handy for passport, boarding card, wallet, iPod etc) and have never been challenged about the bum bag.
And same here boxtops, but shoes??
OH takes a small rucksack type thing with his laptop inside (he has to get it out for the scanner) but can then put a few on-board items in there too.
I remember in work recently some of my female colleagues bemoaning the fact that they wouldn't be allowed to take their vanity cases into the cabin with them.

Are people really so vain that they want to titivate themselves on an aerolpane?
Oh I see red, that I can understand. I would never be so well prepared if my case didn't turn up though boxy but as long as I had my purse and some make-up I reckon I'd survive!
^^ obviously yes Philtaz!!!
And an aeroplane too!

I wish we were allowed to correct typo's.
