Christmas skiing

Where in Europe is there a skiiing resort where a non-skier could be happy at Christmas /New Year? Alternatvely, where is there a place where the skier and non-skier could spend a week, in a city, say, and the skier then go on to a ski resort which is near for the second week?
My 24 year-old daughter is an accomplished skier. I don't ski (and have no ambition to learn). She wants to go abroad with me over that time. I believed that there isn't good skiing at Christmas/ early January but she thinks it's possible. Every year I spend a day or two in Geneva in late December but I don't know what skiing there is near; she is in Flaine at present, reached from Geneva, but how good that is earlier is uncertain. Anyway, Geneva is not the most interesting place when you've been often.

No promises but Val d'Isere is a good destination for non skiers and has a not bad record for Christmas snow.

There are lots of ski resorts in easyish reach of Geneva.

The past few years, the Christmas snow conditions have been good in lots of places.

For your "suitable for non skiers" purposes, I would definitely take a look at Crans Montana.

Now that's an idea, Jayne. We stayed in Crans Montana years ago, in Summer. The daughter was only about 5, and amused the locals by skating backwards across the width of the rink ( you can see what I'm up against, winter sports wise, 20 years or so on!). Nice town, with one half (Crans?) with very luxurious shops, and the other half normal ,as I recall.They were planning a small airport there then. It'll be finished, so now we can take the Learjet LOL

I found the Interlaken area nice to look around with places to see around Christmas time. We were there just before it snowed one year and it was quite busy but then it snowed and the place seemed to fill up overnight with skiers. So then there was stuff for both skiers and non skiers to do. The town and little villages were nice to look around in the day if you didn't ski and by night it got busy in the bars with everyone going out for a few drinks and meals.

We always go away for New Year - generally to somewhere with snow, but we don't ski - we found Krakow, Prague and Helsinki all great places to go and you could probably catch a short train or flight onto a nearby ski resort.
