Railway Stations

Are all railway stations exciting?
I was thinking about coming home on the train. You get off the train, and there's something atmospheric about the high, echoey station, which smells like the town, and the sounds of the town are echoing around it. You feel a little thrill, no matter how many times you do it.
And there are seagulls, or maybe pigeons at some stations.
Do we ever grow out of being a little bit excited by railway stations?
And no, I haven't been watching re-runs of The Railway Children.

I'd watch for it coming round the curve and into sight, but as soon as it got quite close I'd hide behind my Dad 'cos it was so noisy. We travelled loads on the train between Crewe and North Wales and I LOVED it LOVED it LOVED it. I loved the mesh luggage racks, the lovely pictures in the carriages, and going into the buffet on the station. Of course it was still steam then - not QUITE the same these days.
We love hopping on and off at station when we visit london, especially liverpool St. love the hustle and bustle , but dont like the pidgeons that hang around.
9 out of ten have either one foot or mangled feet due to the spikes!
Would be superb if they were all steam railways stations though.
MMM the smell.

I agree that some are interesting buildings, not sure I'd call them exciting though and my local one definitely not.
