Your passport SHOULD be valid for 6 months after your return date. If not it is advisable to get it renewed now. However in most EU countries this should'nt be an issue.

If you renew your standard 10 year passport within 9 months of it due to expire you can have any 'unexpired validity' credited to the new passport (e.g. 10 years and 9 months).

Ooh, how long does a passport renewal application take? I'm off to Ibiza in 4 weeks and my 5-year passport expires in October. Will it cause a problem do you think?
