Bl00dy Olympics

If you're thinking about flying to or from Heathrow in the next few weeks be prepared for some lengthy delays. Flew in from Malta yesterday - what a palaver. Went through three "security" checks - and boy did they jump when my metal hip replacements set their machine off!! Eye scan, passport scan, boarding ticket scan etc. I suppose it has to be done but....... can't they get some security staff who can actually speak English? I can read English, I knew where I was going for my flight transfer to Edinburgh but every time I even glanced at a sign another "helpful" person asked where I was going in rather broken English. Rant over! Had a great time in Malta - from 35 degrees to rain in 2 1/2 hrs.

I flew into Gatwick from Malta on Monday and had no trouble at all...always seems to be Heathrow.....Security may get worse as the summer gets into full swing ( most children finish from school on Friday )..thats why I always try and fly out from LGW.
And yes.... Malta was piggin' hot, but lovely as usual, and arrived in cold and rain...yuck!
Missing most of the Olympics as working abroad, which includes back to Malta at the end of the month...yay!

I flew into Bournemouth from Menorca on Monday and not surprisingly didn't have any problem but I did hear on the news that morning that Monday was the first day Heathrow ws expecting the Olympic teams to start arriving with an extra 250 747s due to land - first day I expect they were on their toes, working to rule and clueless!
