What a surprise!

Received a copy of a magazine I get twice a year from a Friendly Society.
On the front cover are two children, they are my middle granddaughter and my grandson. Absolutely beautiful photograph. Don't know where they got the photo from, never seen it before.
They are all on holiday in Croatia at the moment so I emailed it. Mum and Dad have never seen the photo before, also the 2 children are wearing outfits that look like wet suits. They do not possess wet suits. It is a mystery. I have been in touch with the magazine as I would love a copy of the original, they have promised to come back to me on this.

That is really weird - wonder where they got the photo from (and how they are wearing clothing that they don't own). Very peculiar.

It is weird, I did wonder if they put their heads on somebody else's body, but what is the point?

What is the name of this magazine and did they get a payment for this appearance?

Maybe they liked your grandchildren's (apologies if the apostrophe is in the wrong place) faces but wanted them in wet suits?

It's Foresters Magazine and no they didn't get any payment. The magazine has the name of the photographer, they think it came from an agency and are investigating it for me.

Not sure on the law in the UK but in the States they have to have permission to use minors - for obvious reasons.

Surely the mag can't do that without getting permission to use the photos of the children without the permission of the parents.

Keep us updated (I have subscribed as I will forget to check) very odd though (I would not be happy if it was a photo of my children (well, secretly proud and the not happy).

What a mystery, was surprised to find there must be more than one magazine of that name....this one does not show children on front cover.

Mamya that issue is winter 2012, mine is summer 2012.

My great niece appeared on the front cover of a 'horsey' mag once showing her astride her horse going over a jump.
My niece applied for a copy of the original but was told it could not be released as it was the copyright of the photographer.
She was a minor at the time and no permission was sought either to take the photo or to publish.

Oh of course Caran, daft me - they would hardly show wet suits on the Winter one, no Summer showing on their site, soon all will unravel am sure :-)

Anyone can take a photo of anybody in a public place, and the person taking the photo owns the copyright to do with as they will.
