Does anyone know if you have to check-in in advance when you're flying British airways?

Thanks, Chox.

Don't think so.

I flew BA to the Turks and Caicos Islands a few years back and they were probably the best airline I've ever flown with.
No, you can check in at the airport. From 24 hours prior to your flight you can check in and pick your seats.
You don't HAVE to ... but you CAN do if you wish.

(as NM and RR have said)

On occasions, I haven't even bought a ticket in advance. You can just go to the airport, go to the ticket desk, and buy a ticket for the next flight to ... (Geneva, in my case). I mean, obviously you'd be a bit disappointed if the next flight with a seat available was the following week, LOL.
JJ...You and Alan Wicker..soulmates!..lol x
LOL ... I think Alan Whicker was a bit better organised than me.

It obviously helps if you're travelling without luggage. If you ruck up with a suitcase and your hand luggage and your family of four, and can't get a ticket, then you'll be a bit miffed.
know what you mean JJ..when visiting an ex BF in Germany ..he was a footie player for Eintract..I was a real WAG !....I used to just pitch up for a flight to Frankfurt and could get some good deals..although the clubfares for "us girls" at the time !!..are you having the shakes now all the games are over ???
reimbursed the fares ..even..what is wrong with this keyboard ???
I hardly ever have the telly on now!

I was away during the first Games, and watched them in a succession of hotels and bars, and at the BF's place.

During the Parallels, I had the telly on non stop ... as a lot of us did.

I have complete sets of everything at the BF's, including sports stuff and ski kit, so it's easy to just turn up at Gatwick and hop on a flight.
JJ ..so did I...wonder what happened to all my lovely gear when I told him to B***ER OFF ?...LOL...
Check on eBay, Murray!
probaby all floating down the Maine JJ !!....may just wash up on a beach chez vous !!.watch out for a lovely sky blue floaty ball gown cost HIM a fortune that did..!!:)
Sky blue ball gown?

Does it have a Seagulls badge ???
JJ i DID say lovely.!!!.lol
Oi, whats going on here, a WAG ?
That,of course, was PTD...pre tonydays !!!
Mmmmm, ok.

HI folks, thanks for all the help, indeed, it does look as though you don't have to if you don't want to. However, we will have luggage and will have to drop that off, so we might just as well not bother. Cheers, Chox.
Chox, you'll still have to go to the self service check in machines to print your boarding cards before you drop your luggage. I think you can check in online, get your seats (together, if flying with others) and print your boarding cards at the airport. Have a good trip wherever you're off to.
If it was me I would check in online. You can do it on a smartphone too. Reason being is that the all the window seats are first to go, then aisles and you`ll be left with much less choice if you wait until you get to the airport (middle seats and possibly not together).
