Could anybody tell me of any forests, in the Midlands area of the UK, where it is possible to wander about off the signed pathways, safely?

I have never had a problem wanderingall over Cannock Chase.

Sherwood Forest of course, in Nottingham..the ancient realm of Robin Hood!! Where else?

In London it would be Epping Forest, but which ever forest you end up in, dont get lost, have someone with you and make sure your mobile is charged in case of an emergency!! and spray yourself with jungle repellant!! Why do you want to go wandering off safe pathways anyway!! i guess you want to experience real forest..lol, make sure you take lots of sausages and marshmallows!
