Anyone Ever Been On A Break To Eton?

My only recollections of Windsor/Eton are that it was:
(a) very pleasant ;
(b) rather posh ; and
(c) expensive.

It also had a great bakery who made a really nice cake for the 14th birthday of the captain of the school football team I'd taken on tour in that area.

However we were staying in a youth hostel whereas you seem to be considering somewhere a bit smarter ;-)

I stayed at the Christopher Wren for three weeks many years ago on returning to the UK and very nice it was, right over the Thames and next to the bridge.

I`ve got one reply so far - Winsor races and the very good theatre there. Plus loads of good restaurants and bars (which goes without saying really).

The Wren is the Windsor side of the bridge, I see there is a Christopher Hotel in Eton itself:

Apparently, you can do a tour of the college some days and there`s an open op bus that goes around (although that might be from Windsor). There`s Windsor Castle too of course. Most of the action is in Windsor.
