Ratp Train Fines In Paris

My friend has been fined by the RATP train company in Paris for not having a valid photo on her travel document, she's 21. She was fined 30 euro, and charged 60 euro because she had no money on her. She gave her name, county of origin, and country of residence. They also have her date of birth.... will they follow this fine up, or has she just learnt her lesson.

why would they follow it up? Did she pay the fine?

If they haven't collected the money, and if she doesn't intend coming to their attention again, I'd be tempted to let them find me.

My guess would be no she didn't pay it, 'cause she had no money on her.

Knowing the French - they WILL pursue the matter.

If she's not a French citizen/resident they will have no sensible means of chasing the fine/penalty ...

... but she may well feel a bit nervous next time she goes through a French border check :+)

I could ask why her travel document didn't have the relevant photo ... ?

I'm just wondering how much resource they would be prepared to put in to the pursuit of 60 euros, especially if there's no guarantee of the culprit having any funds at all. Would they send the bailiffs across the channel? Zut alors!

Thank you all for answers. No the photo wasn't removed.... it's her own card, and she did not have any money on her. She is due home this week, and there is 2 months to pay the fine. I was just wondering do it pursue it at all???

If they did get bailiffs to try and get it she'd have to pay their costs as well. Might be cheaper in the long run to pay up.

The French RATP are not going to chase her all the way back to Britain for E60 not in a million years. Don't pay it.

In what way was the photo not valid? I don't understand? Do you need a special travel card?
Might be advisable to pay, I'd have thought, unless she intends never to travel to France again.

"It wasn't me, I was in Normandy and never travelled through Paris, someone must have stolen my id as this is the first I've heard of the whole affair"

Can RATP prove otherwise?
