For those lucky to have had a holiday this year, UK or overseas. Have you visited somewhere you have not been before. Would you return/not go again. And why?
I have been to some beautiful places, but with travel not being cheap, I would not keep going go back to the same place. There is so much of the world to see, so we always go somewhere new each year.
Had a couple of weeks in the Maldives, stunningly blue seas, amazingly white sand and as hot as...well a really hot thing. Apart from the fish swimming around in the sea could have had exactly the same experience in Europe, considerably overpriced and overrated (in my opinion)
Went to Zakinthos a couple of weeks ago but would not go back. Not many cultural places to visit and a lot of closed businesses due to recession. Would go back to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast every year if I could -that's one of my 'lottery win' places I would buy a villa. The Canadian Rockies would be another place to revisit -been there 4 times for holidays now but had an excuse as just lived 200 mile from Banff so could almost go for the weekend when we liked.
Like knowabit, I rarely go to the same place twice - not because I didn't enjoy most places I've been to, but because there's so many other places that I haven't been to yet
Madrid airport is one place I avoid if humanly possible though. I put up with it en route to far more desirable spots.
It really depends on what you want but this year I went to a few different cities in Spain - I loved Granada and Madrid but my favourite had to be Barcelona - not only is it a beautiful city but it has excellent connections to the surrounding mountains and stunning coastal areas
