Driving From Gibraltar To Ronda
Has anyone driven this route? I am a bit nervous of mountainous roads, with sheer drops and wondered how 'bad' this road is. Any help would
be appreciated. I know there is a train, but we have already hired a car
for our holiday.

That said, as you may well be aware, the rest of the world's motorists are far more fond of horn solos than the British - so ignore them when they toot, and let them pass when it's safe.

The first thing you MUST do is take any stickers off the car that show it is rented. This sort of thing has been going on for years.

I drove it the best part of 40 years ago and don't remember it being particularly taxing, but if the road's been widened anyway it should be okay.

I don't know about this route but this year for the first time we flew to Switzerland and hired a car to drive to Italy. I have driven abroad before, but in the States with their nice wide straight roads and automatic cars. Anyway, less than 24 hours after hiring a left hand drive manual car (yikes!) I drove over two alpine passes. I was a bit nervous before we set off, but I kept my eyes on the road, not looking at the spectacular (according to Mr Spudqueen!) views and was absolutely fine. Thinking of doing it again next year!
