It's because people don't return them so they have to pay someone to do it.

tenerife south airport does. orlando does.
Most large US airports charge.

Anyway greed is the motivator of business - just use wheeled suitcases and you've foiled them
Perhaps if they spent more time sorting out their Arrivals queues (rather than working out new ways to gouge a few quid out of passengers) I might be prepared to fly from there again.

The arrivals area is an astonishingly badly run dump, with the surliest, most work-shy, UKBA staff I have ever had the misfortune to come across.

You get your pound back, surely? - we do at Gatwick - the pound is returned when you give back the trolley. Common practice these days (and you can use a euro or a trolley token if you don't want to use a pound).

Not here Boxy, Greed nothing else.x
Is not greed. They have to pay someone/sometwo to go collect those trollies because lazy people can't be arsed to take them back....

I'm very sorry to hear about your brother. Sad times, my thoughts are with you xx

Thank you ummmm x
I've flown from Manchester Airport quite a few times and never had a problem. Never used a trolley but £1 doesn't seem expensive to use one.
most US airports charge but we have never paid for a trolley. While my wife
"guards" our cases I go and get a trolley. When arriving, from where people leave them when boarding a taxi etc. and when departing from check-in area where people leave them. I do not bother to return them to get the 25 cents! Although they are free at Qwen Roberts International airport in Grand Cayman an official took one off me one day as I was unloading my cases frommy car telling me that they were only for arriving passengers! How illogical was that!
