I am travelling liverpool to london on monday afternoon and coming back tuesday - but i don't know what time i am returning - expecting a mad night so i just want to go for the train when i'm ready to leave - is that allowed or do i have to go on the journey that is on the ticket?
is there even a time printed on return tickets?
i realise you generally choose a time when buying online, but if i buy from the station will i have t choose a time?
i know the departure will be on there i guess
i am not looking to reserve a particular seat or anything
it is usually cheaper if you buy on line but you have to stipulate the timings you want, to buy from the ticket office as you are leaving may cost you megabucks so check all this out before you travel.
If you buy an 'advance' ticket - a special low price single - in each direction you will only be able to travel on the services you book.
If you buy an anytime (heaven forbid) or off peak return you will be able to return on any train (off peak if that's what you have bought within a month. You son't have to specify a time -even if you do you will not be bound by it
Looks like all the really cheap advance tickets for Monday have gone - the off peak fare is £77.30 is going to be your best bet - leave after 0900 and return avoiding the morning and evening rush hours
r you could look at the slower but cheaper London Midland service - takes an hour longer with a change at (usually) Stafford. From £29 return
I'm always booking travel tickets for my manager and I choose the 'open return' option so it gives her the freedom to travel back whatever time she finishes her meetings.
It's too late now to buy an advanced ticket which is usually cheaper if you are travelling tomorrow. The off peak fare is £77.30 return.
The prices are the same if you buy at the station or on line.
