holiday cancellation

can i cancel and get a refund for a holiday booked over the phone ( paid by switch ) booked for 8 days time, as i didnt see the hotel details and they turn out to be awful ( last minute deal ) i dont want to go

I dont think you will be able to. You can ask though, see if they've got an alternative, even if you have to pay a bit extra.

We did the same thing.  We booked teletext holidays.  We then realised the details given were incorrect.  I phoned the company and tried to cancel, they said they had different information supplied by ABTA.  In the end I looked on the Majorcan Tourist Board website and asked which hotels were available for the same time we had booked.  We used the flights, and went to a hotel we had used previously.  (Booking by Alpha.com worked out much cheaper than using travel agents) in the end I think we were about �500 out of pocket, but the holiday was wonderful.  Well worth the sleepless nights I had for about a week before we went,
