My daughter has jus turned 15 and wants to go away to tenerife with her 16 year ol best friend,but..without any parents do you now what age they have to be to fly or even go abroud on their own???

well i do understand all of the above but what i cant seem to get across to the people on this site is that she is staying with friends of the family,so it is basicly very safe for her,she is goin for a relaxation time thats all.

Hi Angela,

That does put a different complexion on things - all you said earlier is that you knew the people who owned the apartment they are renting - if these people are genuine family friends who will look after your daughter as if she were part of their family, then I hope all would be well.

Ding-Dong, chelsea didn't ask for opinions, just factual information on travel for young people. I hope somewhere in there she got it. I agree with joannalaura, if your daughter is going to be with family friends, including responsible adults, I'd worry much less. Unaccompanied minors fly all the time, and as long as someone can pick her up and deliver her, and generally hover in the background to make sure nothing bad happens, she should be ok.

I went to spain ON MY OWN when i was 15. I travelled alone but stayed there with distant family whom i had met once. I am a responsible male from a very nice family and my parents trusted me.  thats partly what it comes down to .. trust. But things can go wrong and I dont think at 15 or 16 any child should go on holiday unless their going to be supervised by a trustworthy adult that you know, as in my case.

Oh my god.. Angela i dont know what all these r chattin about.. my mum let me go on holiday wen i woz like 13 and it was wicked she'll have the time of her life!!! Just needed written permission from my parents, my mum looked after my baby and it was all good. Nothing happened to me!!
