Oyster Fares On Overground
8 Answers
I just about to go round the twist, does anyone know where I can find out how much a fare will be from an overground station just outside zone 6 but with an Oyster reader. I'm finding the cost of zone 6 to zone 2 but I can't find out what the cost is from the outer zone to 6. Does that make sense? I need to know how much to top my card with. Waltham Cross to Camden Road, out off peak, back probably peak. I think I've worked it out as
Off peak
Out to Zone 6 £2.40
Zone 6 to 2. £1.50
Peak
Zone 2 to 6. £2.70
Zone 6 to outer. £2.40
I suppose I'm look for somewhere where I can type my journey in and get a proper answer, not a "fares from £1.20"
Thanks

Alternatively an Anytime Return from Waltham Cross to Enfield Lock costs £3.

seems you can use Oyster cards as far as zone 9, plus Waltham Cross is one of a few special cases

Thanks jno, I've used the card before at Waltham Cross, the trouble is that station doesn't come under any zone and because I'll be travelling off peak going and coming back peak I was having trouble working out how much to load the card up with. I don't want to put too much on it incase I lose it, it's not something I use constantly so I wouldn't know it was missing for weeks.
Rowan here... It charges the cheapest available fare for the journeys that day at the times you travel so it really will vary but this is the oyster fares on the transport for London site

More generally, you may find this bit of the TfL site useful:

Remember Waltham Cross is National Rail, NOT Overground. And it's in zone 7.
