Hi, OH,son and I are hoping to get away for a few days in Scotland week after next. Our Itinerary will include a stop off a Loch Lomond, Oban and somewhere else we've not decided on but 'on the way back down'. Can anyone recommend a B&B in Oban please? and perhaps somewhere nice to stay on the way back, in the border region possibly the Trossachs?

We've holidayed around that area frequently enough, and we just pick a three-star or four-star place from one of the many web sites. They're all good. All the proprietors seem to make use of the same, or similar, professional resources, so the standard is pretty uniform.

That said, the catering at the Braeside Guest House just south of Oban was quite exceptional, although it's four or five years since we were last there.
can recommend Ashfield House B&B in Arrochar. Great if you also want to do some hillwalking
Why not give TripAdvisor a browse, usually some pretty good recommendations on there.

Good luck and enjoy your break.
I recently had to stay in Peebles(now Borders)What a very pleasant short stay I had as well.I have to admit at 60+ this was my first visit to Scotland and I was'nt disappointed.I found Peebles a delightful little town.We stayed at a pub/B&B called The Neidpath. It is just down the road from the fairy like imposing Neidpath castle.A nice walk along the River Tweed to reach it but beware of the Scottish blight/beasties.Midges to you and me.
The Neidpath looks old(it is)grey(granite) and not very welcoming to look at.Don't be decieved. The several double rooms and one single if I remember correctly are spotless, modern furnished and well appointed with good views over the river. The full Scottish breakfast is well cooked and substantial.Buffet style so you don't need to pig out.Lots of coffee, tea, fruit juice, cereals etc.I think my wife paid £80 per double room per night but you can check out the prices on the Neidpath's own web site.I liked the accomodation and staff so much we are staying there again later this month.Good luck and enjoy your break were ever you opt to stay.
