Palma Mallorca

I got so fed up (fed up, fed up, fed up) with the never-ending vile, damp weather that I rather impulsively booked a £23 each way deal with Ryanair to Palma - will be there for four or five days.
I've found a cheap apartment in the old town & so now I just need some ideas of stuff to do - besides the sitting in the sun and drinking sangria - in an overcoat if necessary ...
Not hiring a car (defeats the point of a cheap break), so what is there that's a 'must-see' or 'must-do' and is either walkable or accessible by public transport?
Thoughts please?

PS - if any of the Balearic Posse are likely to be in town then I'll buy you a pint :)

It was lovely. We stayed up there and did a few walks to various areas. There are a few monasteries in the area but I can`t remember how many we walked to and how many we drove to because we did have a car at some point. All I remember about the place we stayed at in Soller was the waiter at breakfast. Remember the Mac cartoon where there was a little spinster aunty who had a permanent cold and she always had a handkie up to her nose? That was our waiter. He was always blowing his nose and sneezing over the bread rolls.
Bus Service 50 (Bus Turístic) operates every 20 minutes (even in January):

Yep, the Soller railway is lovely. The Cathedral is worth a visit too, but go early as it gets packed.
If you have a search on t'internet - see if there are any events on at the Marina - when we went, the J-class Super yachts were there and you could walk round before they set off (OH made a vid, below) Definitely worth a visit:

As others have said the Soller train is a good one to go on, then have a look around the town before heading down to the Port on the tram. See the link below for the timetables and prices for both. Then you could catch the bus back to Palma so you get to see a bit more of the Island. The 210 is the scenic bus and the 211 is the express one, link below for that too. This link will give you the times and prices of most the buses and trains on the Island. The Hop on Hop off bus number 50 around Palma itself is a good way to get around and as the name implies you can get on and off as many times in the day as you wish for the same price. It stops next to the Cathedral too. There are a number of markets, the main ones being Inca and Andratx. see the links for getting to them either by bus or train. Peguera is a nice place to visit if you have been to the Andratx market in the morning. Stop there for bit of lunch and look around.

Bit chilly, particularly in the evening, so take an overcoat.
You have had some good suggestions so I will just add one more essential experience for your visit.
