I have been following the Facebook page for the Isles of Scilly Police for a short while now and it is quite enjoyable reading.

PC Mowgli is a handsome young chap of the feline persuasion. He seems to do most of the work and is keen to meet visitors when he is not out on patrol.

I remember holidaying there many years ago.
The only newspaper you could seemed to be able to get in the shops was the Daily Telegraph.
Though of course St Mary's was famous at the time as the favourite destination of Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

what a lovely site and interesting to me, oh to live in a world such as that.

I had some (3 years) of the best times of my life there.

I was head waiter at The Tregarthens Hotel, and it catered then, for the well off and retired people.

I served Harold Wilson, his wife Mary & his family a few times when they came for dinner when the dining room was empty & the guest had finished, and he always gave me a £1 note tip. (wish I had got him to sign them)

His armed bodyguard always sat a few tables away, and I got to know him quite well.

I have so many memories from there all good, and never forget my affair with a lighthouse keepers wife :-)
