Holidays (Cruises) For Single Women

My work colleague (very happily married BTW) has just returned from two weeks in Tunisia on her own. All inclusive so she never left the hotel and has had a lovely break (left the grown up triplets with Dad)
I would love to go on a cruise (as I will not fly) on my own
Anyone any advice or thoughts?

this is not the answer to your question but I could never ever do it as I would be paranoid about the holiday-makers thinking I am a saddo.

A holiday doesn't need to be with family or a group of friends......just being alone away from home can be so refreshing and relaxing.....just you, books, knitting, a glass of wine and your own thoughts......bliss!

and I wouldn't class my marriage as 'very happy' if I felt the need to relax on holiday on my own (girls weekend away yes) -but two weeks abroad on your own? A Ha! perhaps she wasn't on her own! lol!

Ric.ror I'm sure there are lots of people go on cruises on their own and you would not be classed as a 'saddo'! I think cruises lend themselves to solitary travel as there is so much to do, you can join clubs etc or just sit on deck relaxing -go for it!

i totally disagree, I am more than happy to travel alone and often do, you meet so many people but have the advantage of doing exactly your own thing if you wish to. As to other people - they can think what they want I don't give of monkeys!

I can do those at home too, Conne......but not in the same relaxed way as I do when on holiday....different scenery.....different food cooked for you.....new people to meet....if you want to.
And if you enjoy holidaying alone there's no shame in that.

Thanks, Conne....I holiday as the mood takes me.....today it's a soft day in Kerry.....so I'll sit an watch the view and see if the mountains appear through the mist.....enjoying my own company

Tonight I'll join the others in the village for cabbage and bacon, some craic and some music......

Being able to choose is a luxury I'm enjoying....x

Many cruise companies charge a 50% supplement (or even a whopping 75%) supplement for single occupancy on cruises, so you'll need to shop around to avoid them.

It's his/her chum who has triplets!! Cruising out of Southampton is good but as been pointed out pricey for single passengers. Do you mean you will not fly on your own or won't fly at all.

JUst because you're married it doesn't mean you're joined at the hip. I see nothing wrong in separate holidays especially if you have an interest that bores your other half rigid.

I think that going on a holiday on your own, could be a sign that you are looking for something that you haven't had/got, and could lead to having an affair!

I cruised transatlantic by myself last year as husband didn't want to do it, and couldn't get time off work. Doing it again this year. Royal Caribbean have single cabins on their new quantum and anthem ships. Make sure you join the roll call for your cruise on cruisecritic website and you will have ready made friends.
Azamara also have several cruises where the single supplement is 125%.
