I have never been to USA but have always wanted to. I would like to travel to the East Coast but have no info on what it might cost from London, weather, stuff I should know as a visitor. I've barely traveled before and don't do hot weather well- but is LA less humid than our summers? Any thoughts or experience to share would be most appreciated.

do you mean the east coast? LA is on the west coast.

LA's about 5-10 degrees warmer than the UK all year - nice and warm in winter, sometimes uncomfortable (can be over 100) in summer. It's not specially humid (because it's on the ocean) but can be smoggy. There's a decent metro system but it's a huge city and there are times you might want a car, depending whereabouts you want to go.

All sort of airlines fly there, and the fares will vary a bit according to the season. Try putting in dates and checking them on skyscanner.co.uk

In my view the North of California is the best,. San Francisco much nicer than LA (and cooler in the summer). Drive North for the redwoods and Napa Valley wine, south down route1 (fantastic Pacific coast road) to Monterey and Carmel.
Agree with Milvus, go North of LA, and also go inland to Lake Tahoe or north of SF to the Napa Valley, lovely.
as LA is the main entry point, I think it would be a mistake to rush off and not see it; there's lots there. But there's also plenty inland - the winelands, the gold ghost towns, the Spanish missions, Lake Tahoe. It's nearly twice the size of Britain.
New York is on the East Coast.

San Francisco, LA and so on are on the West Coast.

Plenty of guides books and web sites about travelling to the USA so do some research to build up your knowledge.
