and in a week or so I am going on a plane, first time ever!

I was wondering how big the seats are on a plane, how long the safety belts are?

It would be so embarrassing if the belt didn't fit me!

The seat belt straps are seriously long, so don;t worry about that. Put it this way, if the belt won;t go round you, it won't be a problem, because if you are that big, you won't fit in the seat anyway!

If you are a well-fed individual, why not have a word with the airline, and see if you can book a first-row seat, or a seat by an exit door - both have additional leg room. To be prepared, the seats are not massive - bigger on long-haul flights than the European ones, but by no means expansive. Good luck - I adore flying, hope you do too!

Thank you!
Additionally, if a exit row seat isn't available, ask for a bulk head seat.  This is the first seat in the row immediately behind a cabin divider and the leg room is greater.  If you find the seat belt too short, ask the flight attendant for an extender.  They carry these in an overhead for just such occasions.  If you are fortunate to get a seat in a row with no one in the seat next to you, keep in mind the seat handles in between passengers fold rotate upward out of the way...  Good luck!
One time, in economy class, in a British Airways A320 I was in the 'A' row window seat, directly behind 1st class (no bulkhead, just curtain).  Both A & C seats were huge whilst the B seat only looked big enough for a child.  Like I've said, I've only come across this once but it might be worth asking if they have any larger seats if it's an A320 and operated by BA.

I emailed the airline and told them my concerns, they said that the seatbelts will fit an average 350lb guy.  So I'm okay for a couple of lbs then.

Thanks guys.

Is it beer belly or bear belly? Aslong as its not barebelly!

My other half calls me a bear, because I'm a big guy and quite hairy, nice picture I know!  lol

I have a pretty big beer belly, but she says that it's a bear belly, sounds cuter!

Everything was fine.  There were belt extenders available so I had a comfy fit.  The flight was great!  Love flying now.
