Friend is going there late this year - anybody tell me of a map - I'd like to see where they are. When you google - the map only of cayman islands comes up but I would like to see where they are (in America???)
The Cayman Islands are in the western Caribbean about 150 miles south of Cuba, 460 miles south of Miami, Florida, and 167 miles northwest of Jamaica. This map shows them:
Grand Cayman is a very nice place to holiday, but not as picturesque as some of the other Caribbean Islands. Very pleasant people. It's VERY expensive: the last time I was there, the Caymanian dollar was worth more that the American dollar, so you can imagine where that put my Canadian Dollars.
Yes, just about every other building in the capital, Georgetown, is a branch of a foreign bank. It is so rich, the residents don't pay income tax (at least when I was there)...The Switzerland of the Caribbean. I laundered some money there: I left a $5 bill in my swimming trunks before I went SCUBA diving.
Stuey .. just had a quick glance at your post and thought it said ...
.. 'I left $5 billion in my swimming trunks' .. that wouldn't have left much room to smuggle a budgie then ?
