Just an observation - from experience I feel that Britain and England in particular, is unique in the world when it comes to the price of a drink.
Outside of some flash hotels etc. Where you know everything is going to be expensive, a pint is about the same price wherever you buy it, whether on the front in Blackpool or in a pub in the middle of nowhere.
In other countries the cost can differ by several magnitudes in the same sort of bar depending on where you are. The worst i've seen was in Hungary, with a factor of ten between countryside and City.
