Must Be Me
I often wonder about people with young children especially babies and toddlers taken them abroad to places like Cyprus and Crete or turkey in the months of June,July, and August, the temperatures in those countries then are in the 80s,highly irresponsible in my opinion,a holiday in Britain would be much more suitable were the temperature is reasonable, would be better if they waited till the children were older.

I think when they are really little, they would enjoy a bucket and spade on a beach in Cornwall or Devon just as much as a beach in hotter climes. I know I did. It's the parents who want the holiday, not the kids.

I took mine abroad once when they were little. I didn't do it again. It wasn't a holiday. I spent most of my time sitting at the edge of the pool watching like a hawk. Taking them out and reapplying sunblock.
My kids, luckily, were well behaved so going out for dinner etc wasn't a problem but my older son wouldn't have gone in a kids club.

Well Jordy, it is the modern parents.....they feel that they need some sun, so the "offspring" are dragged along as well, quite inappropriately, I agree.
Not only that, but the babies are a pain in the backside on the plane, mainly whinging throughout the flight and scream in cafes because they are hot and uncomfortable.........not all babies......but most.
This is now Jordy....a different culture almost and there is no sign that it is going to change.

pasta...quite.....if children are brought up in the holiday environment then both children and parents learn to live in that environment..e.g you do not see Spanish babies or children out in the mid-day sun.
As for a bit of sun for the non exposed babies and children, sudden short exposures to sun predisposes them to melanoma in later life.
Then of courese there is the problem of dehydration if fluid intake is not considered seriously by the parents.

You should try being in Georgia in the summer over 90 degrees averagely, if you think Crete is hot, plenty of people live their with kids with no problem whatsoever, and as for flying with kids, if people have bought a ticket then people will just have to deal with it, and not do the eye rolling thing when they see you. Most kids are fine on flights.
I did understand what you meant Jordy...and my answer stands. :)
I grew up outside NYC...90 to 100 degrees in July and August. Children just 'get on with it'...I really don't think they take notice of the things adults do. As for them crying...you really can't know why they are...could be heat...hunger...a wet nappy...anything really.
