Whilst I dislike Edinburgh we have a free trip there and it would be churlish not to use it whilst staying elsewhere in Bonny Scotland.
So is there a long term carpark that we can park the car that won't cost us the earth also can anyone recommend a good tour of the underground streets whilst there as I have done the Castle and red bus before.

There are many free park and ride centres around the city with regular bus services into the toon.

The parking's free, not the bus.
trying to park in Edinburgh city is a nightmare..limited and expensive..and navigating the popular tourist places is nigh on impossible..buy a day ticket to bus hop !!

Thank you that helps a great deal, I have driven in Edinburgh before and even parked at the Castle but feel it would be better to just leave the car this time and make a day of it, especially as walking is now not an issue.
there are also very good walking tours of the "closes " and places of interest in the High Street..if it is a nice day..very good
if you have time a ride out to South Queensferry to see the new bridge is nice to do if weather is good..a few good places to sit outside and take refreshments on the high st under and between the bridges... also good boat tours can be taken...

Portobello beach will be worth a visit if it's a warm dry day
There are a few good museums there
and art galleries

bacon slicer?
is anyone gonna say that the bacon slicer is worth a look at
Portobello promenade a good bracing walk for sure...if you have time... multiple art galleries and museums ..again if you have time... Princes st for galleries..portrait in Queen street..and Chambers st for museums...just over the road from Greyfriars !!
I've always wanted to go to the Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, that's something you could do.
obscura at top of high st ..just before castle esplanade..interesting... whisky heritage centre opposite !

next to whisky heritage centre and a charming wee outside bit at the back for lunch..but need to book....
if you need anymore information just post me !
You dislike Edinburgh but, as it's free, you're gonna visit just so you can dislike it some more? Makes perfect sense :-/ I won't say enjoy your trip.
You'll have had your tea? :-)
Douglas...here's your fur coat ! lol
