Hi Guys,

I'm planning to go to New York sometime next year and have been looking on the internet for deals. Has anyone been to New York and got a good deal? I really need some advice as I'm not exactly a well travelled person (only been abroad once, to Paris). Or is it better to go through a travel agents? Can I have a good holiday for under 900? I am totally clueless...

Thank you!

My friend and I booked a trip to New York for December only 3 weeks ago, unfortunately we'd left it a bit late, I suppose like any trip the cheaper ones get booked up early. My local travel agent couldn't help (unless I wanted a non-direct flight), so I trawled the internet for a couple of days and eventually found a direct flight and most things I needed on www.expedia.co.uk . I'd get a couple of brochures from a travel agent, that should at least give you a guide price and some hotels to go on. Because we booked so late we've ended up paying 400 for a flight, plus hotel, but looking at a brochure I got from a travel agent we would have been paying about the same price through them, maybe a hundred or so cheaper, but that's the price you pay for leaving it so late to book!
PS we're flying into Newark airport not JFK, so when looking on the internet put in New York, all airports if given the choice, you may get a better deal.
