3 weeks in Japan ! It is going to be such fun as my two sons with one of their girlfriends are going at that time too. We won't overcrowd them, but I can predict some entertaining evenings. We will stay a few days in Tokyo ( with the dreaded SIL) , but plan to travel around. Anyone done Japan and have any recomendations ? Mr.Sam doesn't like Kyoto, too touristy. The previous times we have been, we never could manage more than a week away from work, so always stayed in Tokyo. To tell the truth, I cannot remember having a 3 week holiday !

Enjoy .
If you go between July and September you can climb Mount Fuji. I did it from Nagoya.

Thanks gulliver. I don't think my knees would take a hike up Mt.Fuji 237 !

I fancy visiting a Sake bodega though. We have done the Sherry ones in Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlucar and throughly enjoyed them.
It is good that you will only be in 'outlaw territory' for a few days. Does Mr Sam get on with his sister?

I am sure it will be great, and everybody will behave impeccably, I am also sure that you will be glad to get back home to the sanity of Spain.
Japan!!!!! It 's full of Japanese.

They were sadistic in WW2.......subhuman.
I wouldn't go to Japan.
'Japan!!!!! It 's full of Japanese'

Nah it's not, they're all in other countries doing the tourist trail!

Very jealous, Sam. It's on the bucket list.
Are you serious Sqad?
Enjoy your holiday Sam
//They were sadistic in WW2.......subhuman.//
I could say the same about some NHS staff I met. Especially the one who removed about 30 staples post op. :-(
Very serious.
Talk to any survives of Japanese prisoner of War camps, anyone who was on the River Kwai bridge construction....only 70 years ago...."lest we should forget"
Strange people the Japanese.
I tried Sake once. Never again. What a hang over. I prefer sherry if there was a choice.
Any how I am sure you will enjoy your venture.
Do you say the same to black people who complain about slavery?
Have a great time Sam, a short time with Mr Sam's sister won't be too bad.
Rockrose.......different problem
Black people were the recipients of slavery , BUT white people were the recipients of Japanese inhumanity. Not interested in the slavery problem.
Question Author
Yes Mr.Sam gets on with his sister, but in a " Japanese" kind of way. A lot of respect, but I know he finds her quite domineering ( dare I say it ? boring ). She already has told him she come to an Onsen with us. she is 8 years older than him.
Question Author
Sqad. Ofcourse we should never forget, but you can't blame a younger generation for the father's sins. How about Germany, would you never go there either ?
What is an Onsen please?
Sam......Germans, look, think and are generally similar to the English...we have more in common.....I can just forgive the Germans.....
just, but the Japanese are quite different, quite unnerving, have different values and even look different......and i cannot forgive the atrocities by the Japanese, for those reasons.

A Spa , retrocop. You must have seen them on TV, some are beautiful, you sit in hot mineral pool, drink sake, and look at beautiful views. Usually in traditional Ryokan ( Japanese Inns) . Quite looking forward to that, even with SIL.
White people only suffered ill treatment and in limited numbers whilst slavery went on for several hundred years and involved whole countries!
