/// The British Home Office, meanwhile, said 20 migrants on two boats were intercepted Saturday off the Kent Coast. The migrants, including a 12-year-old, were handed to immigration officials in Dover. The group said they were from Iraq and Iran. ///
Interesting that on LBC radio early today, a female 'migrant charity worker' said that the Government should set up an immigration centre in Calais, so that it would be safer for these migrants to apply for UK asylumn and if granted they should be given a free ferry ticket so that they could join their UK communities already here in the UK.
Unbelievable!!!!! You just couldn't make it up.

Options include not intercepting them, sinking the boats, preventin them crossing into our waters by blockading them, towing them to France- all seem to have problems. I agree that we seem to make it too easy though by giving thema lift
We hear loads of news reports of these illegal immigrants being intercepted but never an update from the authorities as to the disposal of these people. Why are we never told that they have been returned to France or allowed to benefit from their illegal activities by being allowed to stay in the UK?

/// This thread is nothing to do with migrants. We all know the vile agenda of the OP. ///
Excuse me but it has everything to do with illegal economic migrants, just read the report or perhaps you also wish to accuse the Daily Mail of having a vile agenda also?
What's the matter sp are fed up with using the usual well worn out Racist, Islamophobic, and xenophobic cards?
Footnote: I have reported you for being abusive.

I think the idea has legs. If we had an immigration centre in Calais it'd be much quicker to refuse entry to economic migrants, making the rejection official, sooner. Then the sooner the applicants can apply thenselves to being French; or going back to the first safe country they travelled through. Would probably need strong fortifications though, and armed guards.

/// But then precious police time is spent on arresting these people you wish to give no time or money to. How do you want it? ///
Who said anything about the police, send in the Army to guard our shores, they did to curb other invaders during WW2.
Regarding costs, the costs involved in arresting them and confining them and sending them back, would be a drop in the ocean compared to how much it would cost us if we went to the expense of granting them asylum and then letting them stay here, to be a burden on our NHS, Schools, Housing and Benefit System etc, etc.

I’m not angry - just disappointed.
Why can’t you be like a grown up?
Why do you need to call Anna Soubry ‘Spanner Booby’? Surely, you must realise that when you write like that, no-one is thinking, “Gish, he’s a wit”? They are thinking something else entirely.
Don’t you see how you come across?
There are so many interesting threads you post, but you ruin them by writing like someone who stood next to someone witty, and think that the close proximately has made you witty by osmosis.
It has not.
