When I was working, the holiday didn't 'start' until two days in. Now retired, they start when driving to the airport.

the actual travel bit is hard work these days, crowded airports, cramped planes. So not till I arrive, for me.

When we set off - and if it's forgotten, it's forgotten. Definitely starts a few minutes after that when excited dog settles down to sleep-out the journey.
