I just heard from a friend who flew out to the US to join a cruise ship that she's stuck there - on the boat. The ship can't depart because none of the planned ports of call will allow it to dock.

Planning a cruise? Be warned.

just at the moment, spending a week or two in a floating virus lab would be my least favourite option. Tough on anyone who booked months ago. If she's lucky she'll be covered by her insurance policy, but I gather not many do cover this sort of situation.
My sister in law was due to fly to Barbados to join the Britannia cruise ship to visit the Caribbean islands, they were told not to ( over 70) however the others did, they got to Bridgetown to board the liner and were told they couldn’t so after a nine hour flight there, they had to come back

jno, I don't know if insurers will cover Corona virus at all - but since the government issued its advice to the over 70s I think any older people who ignore that will just be taking their chances.
World's gone mad.
No way would I go on a cruise, go through an airport or sit on a plane with loads of others as things are at the moment, even if I was under 70.
My parents, both over 70, are currently on a cruise... they left on the 9th, well aware of the risks at the time, but nothing was stopping them and things have changed since. My friend has just messaged to see if this was the one they are on, but I don't know and can't get hold of them...
