Now I like Boris and voted for him and still do. But weeks ago on here I criticised the statement he made when this virus hadn't even reached the UK ( as far as we knew) we were just viewing what was happening in China. His words were that, the NHS was well prepared if this virus comes to the UK, I SAID NO IT IS NOT, and that was backed up by many doctors in the NHS.
I was asked by one poster, what would I expect Boris to do? My answer was start getting beds ready like China are doing. Now, their running round like headless chickens trying to hire private beds, and pushing for more ventilators to be made.
What a lot of time you wasted Boris, you lied to the UK, and you've put many lives at risk.
As the norm in the uk to little to late, yet again. lets have the truth from now on!!
Apparently, unlike every other Government in the world who are following WHO guidelines, the British strategy is for “Herd Immunity”.
That means don’t do anything to prevent the virus spreading, because they want it to spread, as widely as possible. That way we get more people immune (but probably more people dead as well).
And that is official policy.
With the billions he's promised, or whatever they need (NHS) they could still save the day, we have a big big company in this country, JCB diggers, get cracking today, make way for beds like China did, and save older people having to suffer on their own at home if they catch it.
Sorry to tell you this Spicerack but you are WRONG.
You mean telling the elderly to stay at home isn't something
to panic about, Well I am panic stricken
Sensible precautions are not the same as panic measures.
One can debate whether we should have rushed into more preparation and restrictions earlier, or not. That's subjective opinion. Certainly the NHS could always do with more resources, but many areas could.
poorclare, why are you panicking? Older people are not going to be confined to their homes by law. As I understand it the advice has been given in an attempt to keep them safe. You can go out if you choose to.

The PM, like the rest of us, including your good self, has twenty-twenty hindsight.
Sadly, that is of no help whatsoever in dealing with a worldwide situation that is changing literally day to day, and everyone is trying to figure out the best way forward based on no experience whatsoever.
Please do not be under the impression that hospitals have a vast number of ventilators in their storage cupboard. They do not. I can’t believe this topic is just being discussed. At this time of year there are very few available beds for new admissions. If/when nhs staff become infected or just self confine who will look after our sick patients, new and already in hospital ?
i went to the practice nurse o friday. she told me the practice was quieter than usual because people were only visiting their gp if they need to. which made me wonder what people are ordinarily visiting their gp for
