Last week, lots of tourist venues were complaining that they didn't want visitors because they might bring the CV-19 virus with them.

This week, the tourist venues are complaining that no-one will be going to their areas because of the latest govt rules.

What do you lot want in the tourist areas? Do you want visitors or don't you?

Erm, w-e-l-l, yeah but, no but, yeah but, no but......erm.....

Yes, I agree- it does seem they didn't want British tourists in our seaside and other holiday resorts but are now upset that foreign tourists will be deterred by the quarantine measures which will be put in place in a few days time. Maybe the ones from overseas spend more or leave less litter, I don't know.
We don't get many foreign tourists to our beaches and countryside, they usually swarm into London and other towns and cities. What tourist venues are complaining? It's been the countryside and beach venues that have been complaining about british tourists during lock down.

It was on BBC News tonight at 6. Didn't catch which area, but there were reports from more than one area. And they all looked like country villages.
Lake District was one.
"Gill Haigh, managing director of Cumbria Tourism, added: “Cumbria Tourism and its businesses are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to ensure a safe visiting experience for all."
Thousands of people marched through Dublin city on Monday as part of a peaceful protest against recent US police killings of black people. The cowderly Taoiseach Leo didn't even condemn them, he more or less praised them.
I have moved this thread into the category "Travel".
why would he condemn the marchers?
Can't find the link now, but I read this morning that Greece had quarantined a whole planeload of passengers because 19 of them had tested positive for covid. By the time you get out of quarantine your holiday will be up - assuming of course that you're travelling for a holiday. Would that be the same for visitors coming to the UK?
It would be good to see the link Maggie. I'm curious to know how they'd get the test results back quickly enough
Thanks. I'm still not clear how they got the results so quickly- perhaps tests were done 2 hours before the flight and they were all held for maybe 2 hours after the 4.5 hour flight giving them 8.5 hours to check the samples. Some in the early stages would still be misses so really they should test them a few days before the flight though shouldn't they and then again at the airport?
Well done to them for their vigilance anyway.

There must be a risk some travellers who know they have Covid may try to come to countries like UK or Germany for free health care
It's not clear is it? Getting results that quickly would help get the country up and running faster than it is, so we should have those rapid test here. If they exist.
