I am going to Hong Kong on Christmas Eve for 9 days:

1 What currency traveller's cheques are best to take, US$ or GB?

2 What will the weather be like?

Thanks

Or lets try and help. We just took a few HK dollars for the first day and then used cash machines. OK you pay a charge but theres no hassle with changing up anything and you are not carrying huge amounts of money around.

Not sure about the weather

Sorry to upset you inglepingle! I thought I was putting it on the travel page. Thanks for your help GK fanatic
Agree totally with GK Fanatic - take some cash and use ATM machines which are everywhere. Weather shoudl be around 20C but you may get it hotter [or you may get it wetter...] Whatever - you will enjoy!
Jenny inglepingle not upset at all, just thought you might receive more help from the Travellers

Thanks auntie bertie. I am really looking forward to it.

I'm going out on Monday and usually the weather at this time of the year is quite cool in the mornings and then gets really nice and sunny from abuot 10 - like a British summer.

I'd take a little Hong Kong dollars - you'll need them for the cabs, ferries etc - and then flex your credit cards. If you're shopping in the markets (particularly the jade market, Stanley Market or Ladies Market - for replicas etc) then you'll need cash.

thanks butty. From the answers I gather travellers cheques are not necessary.

Do things shut down at Christmas or is everything open as usual?
