Haha, it’s it’s fish,I won’t eat jno, could be a good diet :0/
Bobbisox 12.18 - you won't see the northern lights in daylight which is constant in mid June, no darkness. If the love of your life's interests don't go past the limited offerings of Lanzarote then Iceland would clearly be inappropriate and a waste.
You can get as varied and good food in Iceland as anywhere else - if you are fussy just move upmarket until you find your type. I am unsure if a Michelin star restaurant is still open there but there certainly was. Yes, arguably the best country for fresh fish but meats of all kinds (except much of the exotic game range) are very good there too.
I honestly can’t understand why people are booking holidays abroad when times are so uncertain. Holidays I'd arranged before Covid were cancelled last year and one moved to this year and cancelled again and I can't be bothered with all the messing about. I’d rather stick to breaks in this country than be disappointed. Further afield can wait.
Although expensive, Iceland is interesting, Bobbi, and the fish is beautiful as is the drinking water. If they sold that in pubs here I'd buy it.

This part holiday was the 4th time cancelled Naomi and it was supposed to be for Mr Bs 80th , disappointment over now though, originally last September was for my sister in laws birthday, then my birthday in November then April for both of them and June for his :0)
My bet would be Bobbi preferring the Northern breeze you find in Lanzarote rather than the northern breeze you get near the artic ?

Yep that would certainly be my preference alav ;0)
A lot of people have holidays booked that have been transferred over from last year, many were probably actually booked in 2019. It was often the way to go as refunds were like pulling teeth - so it's not that people are throwing caution to the wind and booking the last few months. The whole thing is a shambles for the tourist industry.

.....or is it?

Portugal may be "amber", but the FCO advice hasn't changed. until it does, any decision to cancel is yours; and, QED, so is the loss you'll incur by cancelling. mr o'leary's plane is still flying, if you're not on it, your problem.
you can always eat whale, Bobbi, that's a mammal not a fish!
I would be grateful for any kind of holiday right at this moment.

Mushroom, I’m getting a refund from Jet2 because they’re not flying till after July1st 4 days after we were supposed to fly and as Prudie has said , this was not a last minute ‘Let’s get away thing’ when it was booked, restrictions had been lifted till Christmas when it was changed !
