Looking to take my 9 year old son away for the first time alone. usually have another relative but not possible anymore.

I’m wondering if anyone can advise on the best places to travel to as a single parent that ideally has a kids club for him. I’m also very socially awkward but happy to sit in the sun with a book.

Thanks!

Eurocamps are very popular among my peers
What's your budget and when do you want to go?
Personally with all the travel issues at the moment and it being your first holiday as the only adult, I would stay fairly local. Your son will have we a great time at a local Haven or Butlins. They are so family oriented you will feel relaxed and safe, and you can be as sociable or as private as you wish.

I’d like a week away. Budget of about 2-2500 ideally in the 6 week holidays.
I’d like to go abroad just because I’m sick of the weather here!
I wouldn’t want to go abroad now, with all the chaos at airports. Try Center Parcs. I’ve never been but heard great reports from friends who have.
A nine year old in a 3 hour queue may not be a good idea.
Look at cruises out of Southampton:

Cruises have kids clubs, plus the kids are relatively safe on the boat and can't get off without you. Every day is different and you'll get to see a bit of the Med (or wherever). And the food and some drinks are all included (plus you can pay a bit extra to have all drinks included, if you like).
bear in mind with a cruise that the first and last few days will still be in Britishish weather. But something like this might suit your budget

Pay more for an outside cabin, though
Can recommend Centre Parcs. Grand kids loved it. Lots of activities available. They made lots of friends to meet up with.
