Anyone on ab been? What are your thoughts on it?
Four of us are looking for somewhere to go and one of us suggested Heraklion . He said he had been a year or two ago and quite liked it. On the other hand another said he'd been about fifteen years ago and wasn't that struck with it.
I'm just hoping to get opinions from others who've been.

I suppose it would be touristy things.
For me it would be walking around seeing the sights. Seeing older places and such.
Going out for meals and drinks will play a part too. Noisy nightlife is no longer a thing for any of us though.

the noisy kids go elsewhere, as far as I know (it's been 10 years since I was there).
But there's nothing special about Heraklion apart from the museum, it's a hot, dusty Greek town. You can get to other sites like Knossos for day trips, though.

For just relaxing and unwinding, I personally think Rethymnon and Hania are prettier port towns.
I'm only talking about Crete.
