I am trying to find a boutique type of hotel in Durham city to go for a romantic weekend. Struggling to find any hotels in Durham City at all. Can anyone help?

why would anyone need a town with lots of hotels, Lion? I usually manage to stay at just one when I go anywhere. Rosy, try these - can't swear that they're boutiquey, though.

The Three Tunns is very quaint and smack bang in the middle of Durham.

Try Innkeepers Lodge.com. We always stay with this group now and they often do 2 nights and get one free. Click onto the special; offers section. These are always connected to a pub of some sort and we have never ever had a bad time yet. Have stayed all over.

The Ramside hotel is just out of Durham so a car is handy,

the rooms are lush in the old part but pricy,

stay in the bishops suite of the Castle for a romantic nights stay. the price is just right, the 3 tuns is good too ,

the county hotel is also another good hotel,

Lumley castle just outside durham is old and romantic.

meals are good there too.

I'm fairly certain that none of the hotels in Durham are what most people would consider "boutiquey". However, for central position, the 3 Tuns is hard to beat and the Kings Lodge is another to consider. Don't know what the rooms are like, but the food is excellent.

Agree about Lumley Castle- incredibly atmospheric & - great place to hole up in in the winter. Their medieval banquets are a good laugh as well.
