Brisbane is on a river slightly inland so can get humid but on the river banks they have built a fantastic swimming area, with rock pools streams and lagoons.....and the best bit is that its open to the public and totally free!! Also in the same area are a selection of restaurants all very nice with choice for everyone...walks along the river bank too make it a brilliant place to spend the day.
Drive south or by bus you are then on the gold coast with some fantastic beaches, then u have tourist attractions like warner bros movie land, wet and wild (water park) and dreamland (rollercoasters and stuff).
I would highly recomment going to Currumbin wildlife sanctuary...south of brisbane. web address http://www.currumbin-sanctuary.org.au/ feed kangaroos and wallabies, hold koalas, and lectures on snakes spiders, birds etc Also they have a aborignal dancers!... in the gift shop you can buy toy wombats, kangaroos, koalas that are actually made in Oz....none of the made in china rubbish. The only down side to the wildlife park its on the tourist trail for the japs :-( But dont let that put you off as they literally do a flying visit and the whole park needs a day to stroll about and take it all in.
Have a fantastic time, im dead jealous!
