Can you suggest a resort in March?

My husband and I (in our 50's) want to have a week abroad in March -- somewhere quite hot and not too quiet at night -- (shops and restaurants but not discos!!) - where would you suggest? We would like self catering apartments.

Well i always recomend my home town of Corralejo, Fuerteventura.
Here are the islands main websites Here Here and Here . the begining of march is the carnival, and the parades, shows and firework displays are some of the best in around.
Aside from that, the town has many great bars and restaurants, miles and miles of beaches, virtually no nightclubs and good weather most of the year.
Try Madeira, not quite as hot as the Canaries and no beaches to speak of but beautiful countryside, levada walks, good food and no lager louts at all. Best to keep in the Funchal area as otherwise your options will be limited for the evenings. Take a look at Strawberry World's website, they have lots of photos and live web cams to give you some idea of what to expect. Don't be put off hiring a car, the roads are very winding but there are quite a few tunnels cutting through the mountains which will get you quickly from one side to the other.
